Ok, so I got the books currently out that I didn't have for my Birthday...
SPOILERS For The Torchwood book Twilight Streets!
I love parts, like the Ianto/Gwen Abba conversation, the everyone staring at Ianto until they get coffee, Owen's trick with the SUV and the mud, and Ianto's revenge with making everyone paranoid over their coffee, the talk of a road trip to TW2 and Jack thinking the team has gone insane over the light color conversation, and is Myfanwy a Pteranodon, or a sexier Pterodactyl? Owen accusing everyone of trying to give him a heart attack, when people keep bursting in and startling him, lots and lots of cute moments. Even the hints that Owen was already King Of The Weevils long before he got shot, and gloved back to life, was cool.
But I fucking hate other parts. I keep having to stop and find some Coke or something to settle the nausea over the Tosh/Owen. I fucking HATE Tosh/Owen.
Maybe it's just me, but seriously? I just can't see it. Maybe Burn Gorman and Naoko Mori aren't that great actors if they're supposed to have been playing people in love. First year, Yeah Tosh is pining after him when she's not dating alien woman, but Owen barely notices she's alive. At all. Unless he's verbally abusing her. Second year, he's more friendly, but treats her like a mate down at the pub. She tries to ask him out, and he thinks she's talking about a team game night! And when she finely flat out say "DATE ME!" He's like "o_O ...date? You and...me? Er..ok I guess. One date. But I'm still shagging everything that moves!" Then without even having shagged her or anything, he gets done in by her Black Widow Curse. Not seeing any endless love!
Ugh, I keep gagging every time they have one of those flash forward to Married!Tosh and Owen scenes. Just...wrong.
Tosh is a creepy stalker. In canon! She fucking admitted to stalking Owen in Dead Man Walking! And I quote from a transcript:
TOSHIKO: I wanted to know why Owen left. Actually, more if he talked to anyone
about what I said, so I checked the CCTV.
GWEN: (amused) That's a bit like stalking, Tosh.
TOSHIKO: I know! Only now I wish I hadn't. Look.
It's just sick for a stalker to get her unwilling victim like that. And don't even get my started on the part where she storms into Owen's flat and babbles at him about her life while he's still trying to deal with his death, and losing every single thing that's important to him, and getting pissy at him for not listening to her, in A Day In The Death! I really, really, hated her then, even if I normally...just mildly don't care about her one way or the other. She's just so...blah. Boring. And when she's not boring, she's a bitch.
Owen has no interest in her for the whole run of the show, then suddenly she's the love of his life? Bitch please! There's more evidence of him being in love with Jack and Ianto, then there is of him being in love with Tosh! Unless Tosh is using some alien mind control on Owen, him suddenly wanting to marry her and have babies is just wildly out of character for him.
*mutters* When I finish this book, it had better turn out to all be Bilis mind control or something, otherwise I've lost what little faith I had in the writers.
