*Dru looks nervous* Ok I KNOW this has been a killer wait but it's over! It's finely over! I'M FREE!!!! *Dru does happy dance* And Chase is happy too! *Chase throws confetti, and sets off fireworks over finely not being pregnant anymore* Ahem. And now...the fic!

Parts One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven and Eight

Title: Why you should never visit family if your last name is Chase
Author: Dru
Fandom: House M.D. X-over with Buffy/Angel
Pairing: Spoken of Angel/Cordelia other wise none
Summary: After a visit to his cousin Cordelia in LA Chase has a little problem....Ok make that a big problem!
Archive: If you want it!
Rating: M to be safe. Most likly not needed but I like to be safe!
Parts: 9/9
Status: Complete!
Spoilers: for Buffy and Angel umm if you haven't seen them after all this time.....dude. House up until and after Deception. Set after House is back in charge.
Series/Sequel: No
Website: http://www.geocities.com/dru_evilpointybiteyone
Disclaimer: I do not own House M.D., any of the characters, or Buffy or or Angel or any of them either. *sulk*
Authors notes & Warnings: This is insane I know. *sighs* I've battled the plot bunnies for days but in the end as always I gave in and am writing this. It's a male preg. Yes I said it! Chase gets knocked up! Thank god for X-overs or this would be even stupider then it's going to be! To make this work (And make my self happy...) consider seasons 6 and 7 of Buffy to never have happened and seasons 4 and 5 of Angel to never have happened. *squints* Ok ok ok the Cordy/Connor/Jasmine crap and the Wolfram and Hart stuff never happened. Angel and co are still in the hotel all together working to help the hopeless and Cordy's still Cordy not....whatever you wanna call her during the total slaughtering of her character! Conner...umm *thinks of some way Conner could be non-annoying.* Eh screw it! Conner was never kidnapped! He's a toddler (*does quick math* About 4 now) Angel, Cordy and everyone have been raising since he was born. Cordy still did the half demon thing to keep her head from exploding and she and Angel are a happy couple of parents. Sunnydale is still there Buffy never came back and everyone's still all fighting by them selves, sometimes calling LA, etc... WARNINGS other then the Male pregnancy....I really, really, REALLY suck at writing medical babble! So um...forgive me? I'm googleing my fingers off but well... still not the best in the world! And I've never actually been pregnant my self so I'm going by research. lots and lots of research!

Now! On to the fic!

Previously in Why you should never visit family:

"Ah!"

House and Wilson's heads shot over as Chase gasped loudly and dropped his fork. "What's wrong?"

"The contractions... I- I think I'm in labor!" Chase gasped in horror.

And now...the last chapter!

Chase stared up at House. "What do you mean I'm not in labor?! I was having contractions! Close together contractions!" He was laying in a hospital bed hooked up to a bunch of monitoring equipment while House examined him.

House snorted. "You're not in labor. Look at the readings." House said handing the strip of paper to Chase which he stared at in disbelief. "They're Braxton Hicks. Maybe stronger then normal Braxton Hicks but Braxton Hicks none the less. But I think this is a sign for you to go home. Rest."

"Rest from what?!" Chase snapped. "For the last 5 months I've done nothing but sit on my ass in the conference room and read!"

"You also participate in the differentials." House said mildly.

"I'm an intensivist! I'm used to working! I'm used to dealing with patients! Running tests at the very least! But I've been practically on bed rest for months now!"

"Then it won't be that much different for you when you're spending the next few weeks laying in bed watching tv."

"House!"

"Chase stop arguing. As you keep saying, you're a doctor. You're 35 weeks. And while there's about a 99% survival rate at this time, I don't think you want to risk that 1% just because you don't want to stay home and rest. But maybe you do. Cause hey, maybe I'm wrong! It has been known to happen from time to time. Maybe you really don't care. This was all against your will right? Maybe you're just getting what you wanted all along."

Chase squeezed his eyes shut tightly, forcing him self to breathe slowly for a minute. "Alright. I'll go home. But I'm getting that damned c-section in two weeks!"

"We'll see." House snorted, while he started to un-hook the monitors from Chase.

One Week Later

Chase sighed in relief as Cameron finely left his flat. He hated this. As if he wasn't already miserable enough, now that he was stuck on bed rest, he had all his co-workers tramping in and out of his place! It was even worse then right after he'd found out he was pregnant. Cameron, Foreman, Dr. Wilson, Dr. Cuddy, even House had came by a few times to harass, slash, help him.

He gave small paranoid look around, then pushed him self out of his nest of blankets and pillows on the couch. "I am a grown adult! I can get off my couch if I want! They're not the boss of me!" He huffed out loud to him self, as he waddled around the couch heading towards the kitchen.

"Oh you can bet you're large, pregnant ass I am the boss of you! Am I going to have to make this a in hospital bed rest? For gods sake Chase it's only been a week and you're already misbehaving!"

Chase yelped and grabbed the door way to keep from falling over as he spun, towards House's voice. "God! House what are you doing here?!"

"The little light bulb I have that goes off when you're being bad was nearly blinding me. What are you doing out of bed?" House demanded.

"I-I uh I wanted a drink." Chase defended.

House raised a eyebrow and pointedly looked at the cooler full of water, every possible flavor of juice, and bottles of caffeine free iced herbal teas, sitting next to the couch within reach.

"Uh. I ment... um."

"You're a lousy lier. You're just being a pissy little brat over being on bed rest. Now back to either the couch or bed and stay there. Or if you'd rather, get dressed and down to the car and we can admit you to the hospital for the next 4 weeks."

"I'm not going to the hospital! And I'm having a c-section next week! At 37 weeks I'll be full term! There is no reason what so ever that I shouldn't be able to get my c-section then! Other then you wanting to torture me that is!"

"There's a reason why pregnancy last 40 weeks. More time for the baby to grow and mature, and more time for the parents to prepare for the arrival, are just among a few."

"Alright, yes more growth happens but by this point it's all weight gain and putting on a layer of fat. As long as I'm extra careful about keeping him or her warm they'll be fine. And I'm as ready as I'm going to get! After the baby shower Cameron threw me last week, I have baby clothes, I have baby toys, both in gender neutral colors. I have a crib, I have a cradle, I have a swing, I have a car seat, I have bottles, I have formula, I have pacifiers, I have diapers and baby wipes, and I hired a nanny! I have every possible thing a baby could need! And on top of that I have read every parenting book known to man over the last several weeks! I can not possibly get any more ready for this child to be born!" Chase ranted loudly, glaring at House.

"Chase, sit. Or I will drag you down to the hospital."

Chase signed and made his way back to the couch, and carefully lowered him self back down. "There. Happy now?"

"Ecstatic. Feet up. Rest up. You're going to need it since after recovering from surgery you're going to have a little ankle bitter to take care of next week." House turned and walked out of the apartment ignoring Chase's bright grin.

---

One Week Later

Chase would be bouncing if he could. He was thrilled. It was finely all almost over!

He was back in PPTH being prepped for surgery. He's already been given a epidural and in a few minutes he was going to be taken into the OR to be cut open, muscles pulled apart, whatever uterus like thing that was holding his child, cut open, his kid pulled out and handed over to Cameron to check out, while House and Wilson stitched him back up, and then to recovery for a few hours. Within 24 hours he's be on his feet and walking around, sitting up, feeding the baby, or whatever just to keep moving to prevent blood clots. After 24 hours he's be off the IV and catheter and started on bland mild foods, and within 2 to 4 days his sutures would be removed and he'd be going home.

Chase grinned even wider. He'd gone over every step in his head, over and over, for days now and couldn't wait for it to finely all get underway.

Foreman poked his head into the room pushing a wheelchair. "Never seen anyone so excited to be going into surgery before. All set?"

"Yes! I can't wait! 8 months of hell is going to finely be over! My body will be mine again!" Chase crowed grinning while Foreman helped him out of bed and into the chair.

"Well I'm happy for you, man. Lets get you in there and get this over then huh?" Foreman said as he started pushing the chair out of the room.

---

"Oh Chase. You lucky, lucky lady! You finely get the operation you've been whining for, for months, and you get a free bikini wax! Oh don't worry. We'll be real careful. Hardly leave a scar. Have you back in those thongs in no time!" House told Chase cheerfully from behind his surgical mask.

Chase rolled his eyes, more amused then bothered. "Yeah yeah. I'm a girl. I'm a pretty girl. I wear thongs and girl-y things. Can we get to flaying me, now?"

"Alright let's get this party started! Scalpel."

Cuddy sat by Chase's head petting him. "Everything's going fine, you're going to be just fine! You're doing great!"

Chase blinked at her. He'd gotten rather used to the mothering but it was still bizarre. "Um yeah I know. I'm not nervous. I'm thrilled!"

"You do remember this isn't going to be a instant, boom, back to work, back to pre-pregnancy form, right? You're going to be recovering for weeks. Months till you're totally back to your pre-pregnancy state. You'll still need lots of help at home, you'll be sore, and tired, most likely wild hormone fluctuations..."

Chase rolled his eyes at Foreman. "Yes I know! Intensivist remember? I know what I'm in store for. But it's better then the alterntive..."

"I still say we should have waited to see if a magic vagina grew. That'd be cool."

"House!" Cameron objected from her place waiting to take the baby.

"Oh you're all a bunch of whiners. Ok I'm though the abdominal muscles, Wilson hold that. I'm cutting into the...whatever this is."

Chase let out a small laugh. "Just what one wants to hear during surgery!"

"Cameron, get ready. Here!" Cameron took the baby and moved over to the waiting warmer to be dried off, his or her mouth and nasal passages will be suctioned, do an Apgar assessment and any other attention he or she might need.

House and Wilson started the now longer procedure of putting Chase back together.

Chase lifted his head following Cameron. "Cameron?"

"Hold on..." Cameron called over still working.

A loud, annoyed sounding cry came from the baby.

A minute later Cameron smiled over at Chase. "It's a girl! She's 6 lbs 1 oz , 19 inches and she's a 9 on the Apgar scale at the minute mark."

Chase grinned. "Oh. Oh wow. She's ok? What'd she get a 1 on?"

"Her hands and feet are a touch blue but she's already pinking up already. Should be a 10 on the 5 minute test. 10 fingers, 10 toes. She's perfect Chase!" Cameron said swaddling the baby in a warmed blanket, and putting a cap on to keep her head warm. She picked the baby up and bought her over to where House and Wilson were still working on Chase, and handed the baby to Cuddy so she could hold her where Chase could see.

"Oh. Wow. She's...she's beautiful." Chase whispered, looking awed. "I can't believe...I can't believe this is the little thing growing inside me for so long."

"I think she has your hair." Cuddy teased gently, cradling the small form.

Chase laughed and raised a hand to stroke her face, where she was squinting around curiously. "Hi. Hi there. I'm your daddy."

"Don't you mean mommy?"

"Shut up House."

"Watch who you're picking on. Or I'll stitch something rude into your stomach."

"You will not!" Cuddy told him looking up sharply.

"What are you gonna call her?" Foreman asked leaning in to see the baby.

"I haven't really thought about it..." Chase admitted.

"See? This is why pregnancy last 40 weeks!" House told him smugly.

"Mary. I think I'll call her Mary. She looks like a Mary." Chase said studying his new born.

"It's pretty. It fits her. And House if you make one Catholic joke I'm giving you Chase's clinic hours for the next 6 months." Cuddy said without looking up from Chase and the baby.

Even with the mask you could tell House was pouting.

Three Days Later

Chase looked up from feeding Mary a bottle, as House entered his hospital room. "Hey."

"Hey. How'er you two doing?" House asking eying up the small pink bundle in Chase's arms.

Chase grinned down at his daughter. "We're great. She's perfect. Passed all her tests and exams with flying colors. I'm getting my stitches out as soon as Wilson gets here, then Cameron's driving us home."

"Slight change of plans, mom."

Chase's head shot up in alarm. "What?! What do you mean? I'm fine! I've been healing great, my vitals have all stayed normal, no signs of infections or anything!"

House looked amused and held out his arms for the baby. "Hand her over. I'm not making you stay longer I'm taking your stitches out."

Chase blinked in confusion but carefully handed his daughter over to House.

House handled her gently as he eased her into the cradle sitting next to the bed, then grabbed the tray of medical supplies and wheeled it closer to the bed and sat in the chair next to it. "Ok strip for me."

Chase gave him an amused look as he pulled his sheet down and his hospital gown up so House could get at his incision.

House snapped on a pair of gloves, peeled the bandage off, then carefully looked at the starting to heal incision. "Looks good. No excess redness, no swelling, healing nicely. Ok lets get those stitches out so you can go home and enjoy motherhood, and rest up cause I want you back at work as soon as you're able to walk upright without someone holding your hand."

Chase watched House pop free his stitches and chuckled. "I'm pretty eager to get back to work my self. I was going crazy being coddled to death while I was pregnant. Right now I'm going to be pretty busy with Mary but I'm sure soon, cabin fever will set in and I'll be calling you guy up just begging to help with a case."

"If you're good I'm sure we'll find a way to work something out. If I can solve cases over the phone I'm sure you can."

Chase stared in disbelief. "Did you just give me a complement?"

"What? Who me? Would I do that? Please. You act like you've never met me!"

Chase hid his grin. "Right. Stupid me."

---

Six Weeks Later

"It's not lupus! Why do you always have to say it's lupus?!" Cameron snapped glowering at Foreman.

"It could be a allergy." Chase commented, looking at the symptoms written on the whiteboard, from the door way.

"No! We already tested- Chase?! Oh my god! What are you doing here?" Cameron gasped jumping up from her seat to hug Chase.

"Well I do work here..."

"You're back? Maternity leave over already?" Foreman asked standing and walking over.

"Yep!" Chase answered brightly.

"Hmm strangely I seem to recall you're not supposed to be lifting anything heavier then a baby for eight weeks after a c-section." House commented from his seat.

Chase scowled. "I'm fine. I'm moving around ok, I've started working out again, the pain is gone, and I'm going to kill someone if I can't get out of the flat and back to work! I love Mary but 24/7 with her is making me stir crazy! And I hired a nanny for a reason. It's time I got back to work, and let her earn her pay."

"Hmm. If you say so. If you keel over we're just going to point and laugh. Now go get me a CBC, Chem 7, ABG, tox screen, and run another scratch test, yes Cameron I know we already tested but we might have missed something and the symptoms fit. Cameron, get another history, Foreman go do your breaking and entering thing. I'll be in my office if you need me. Don't need me." House ordered pushing him self up from the chair and going into his office to watch his soaps.

Chase grinned as he and the two other doctors moved out of the conference room, to go do their tasks, in tandem, like he'd never been gone. It was good to finely, after all this time, have everything back to normal.

The End.
