I think it's because Owen is portrayed as a type of 'alley cat' - you know, if it moves... Yes, I do actually like him. Know what you mean about the sarcasm - one of the reasons I'm fond of Chris Eccleston's Doctor is because of the sarcastic undercurrents. How far into Torchwood are you? Series Two hasn't started yet (I think) here.
